Personality: Vander is a good person in the very deep of his heart but he shows himself as a bad guy. He is cynical and he likes telling things with their name. He will speak his words without even thinking how they will sound and most of the times his words end up irritating those around him. Furthermore, he is a person who does not like getting touched by others. He is always away from others and never touches them, unless they are engaged in battle. There is no particular reason that he does not want to get touched, he just wants to not get touched by others. Also, Vander is always serious. He is never laughing and he always has a serious look on his face. He is not the kind of person who will make a joke over anything and in case he does, it will be a joke that won't make anybody laugh. Vander claims that he is bad at telling jokes, anyway. Moreover, Vander is never seen crying and never losing his temper. He shows no signs of emotions to his enemies, his voice tone never changes as if he never gets angry. The reason for that is that he thinks that he should not get angry over weaker people: Another aspect of the mage is that he is quite arrogant and he believes himself to be stronger than the majority of other people. As a result, he shows the image of an arrogant guy, who does not care about others, who does not have any emotions, who never has fun or is funny and that always tries to irritate others.
At a critical hour, though, Vander will tag with his guild members. If he finds out that his guild comrades are in danger, he will attempt to help them. This kind of behavior cannot be understood by many. Some people say that he accepts to help others because he knows that if he does not and they lose, it will be his own time to lose in a battle. The second explanation about that behavior is that in fact he cares about his comrades and that deeply inside his heart, he wants to help them and show that he also has a good side. Vander, though, does not accept any of the explanations and he simply ignores what others say. The real reasons behind his actions are unknown...
Finally, something else is also heard about Vander. Vander is said to be a person who is afraid of loneliness, even if he prefers staying alone in the guild. People say that he wants to know that people are around him, even if he does not talk to them and that he wants to know that there are people that want to fight for him and people he will fight for. Just like the previous statements, this one is also questioned, but it probably is true...
History: Vander never happened to meet his parents. He was born in a hospital and his mother disappeared, while his father never actually searched for him. As a result, he was sent in an orphanage and he grew up there. Even if he was with other children, though, he did not like it. Vander showed a strange character. He was quite anti-social and he did not seem to like making any friends. Also, he was quite irritating as the most things he would say would make the other children angry and he did not like getting touched by others to the point that he was annoying. He clearly did not like the place and he did not hesitate at showing it.
One day, though, something that would change his fate was about to happen. One day, a few mages visited the orphanage, claiming that they came in order to give presents to the children and play with them. That was a lie, though; the true reason that they got to the orphanage was to search for children with great magical power to get them and train them. Among the many children, Vander was one of the few that had great magical power. As a result, they got him from the orphanage along with the rest of the children that shared the same magical power with him and got him in their guild, that happened to be a Dark Guild.
As Vander was growing up, the leader of the guild was trying to teach him a unique form of magic. Vander was his chosen one to learn the Lost Magic of the Fusion Magic so that he would be able to fuse things together. For many years, Vander was learning the magic... And after many years, he finally managed to master it. However, before the guild started sending him to missions, the Magic Council got them and so the guild was disbanded. As he was not a known member of the guild, Vander escaped, without being a wanted man. And now, Vander is traveling across Fiore, trying to increase his strength and become a top-class mage.

-Fusion Art: Vander fuses two different things together, forming a new one with all the properties of the two fusion materials.
-Blademan: Vander uses his Fusion Magic to fuse himself with his sword, turning himself into a blade man. His body becomes like a sword. It turns grey and it behaves like steel. His arms and his legs have the cutting power of his sword and Vander is stronger in this form, as he has merged with a sword. The fusion lasts for 3 turns.
*Blademan's X: In his blademan form, Vander moves both his hands to form an "X" and he cuts his enemies with them.
*Blademan's Spin: In his Blademan form, Vander stands on his hands and opens his legs. Then, he spins his body by turning his hands around and cuts anybody around him with his legs.

everything seems fine in my eyes apart from, would his whole body change into blades, since then his elbows and knees would be less likely to work,

nah, his body would be composed of steel, like Daz Bones from One Piece. That's not a great example in a FT site, but that's the only example I could come up with. lol
